Green Bay, WI-On the Cellcom Marathon in Green Bay runners are getting ready for the big race this weekend and with the warmer weather it has some runners hydrating earlier to make it through the race.
What might be ideal for some runners, “Typically in the 50s to 60s when I’m running a half marathon. If I’m running a 5K maybe in the lower 60s" says Aimee Katona, Runner.
Isn't for others. "70s, low 70s..low humidity" says Ken Frazier, Runner. “Everybody has different ideal temperature that they do well at but typically we say in the 50 degree area" says Dr. Jeremey Metzler, Medical Director Cellcom Marathon.
That’s where the core temperature of the body is not too cold or too warm. At the start of the race you might feel comfortable by the end your hydration will help you finish the race feeling good. "Make sure you're well hydrated coming into the race and drinking plenty of fluids during the race" says Metzler
The marathon, half marathon and 5K all start and end at Lambeau Field and with every mile and a half they'll be water to keep the runners hydrated but there will also be medical stations long the routes as well. "Anybody who is complaining of any type of pain or cramping or feeling light headed we'll look at all of those individuals" says Metzler
Doctors also stress that you keep the same pace you practiced. “Don't do anything on race day that you haven't done before. Because you don't know how it's going to react with you" says Metzler
To help you stay safe and healthy during the races.
