A ceremony Tuesday night honored the victims and survivors of domestic violence.
The Violence Intervention Project, or V-I-P, hosted their 6th Annual Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday night at Grace Lutheran Church in Kewaunee.
52 candles were lit, one for each person who died from domestic violence in Wisconsin in 2017. Brooke with V-I-P, who didn't want to use her last name because of safety concerns, explains more about the group's goal:
"It's important to us to hold a community event so that they can come together and remember those lives that are taken and to also learn about domestic violence," Brooke said.
In 2017, V-I-P worked with nearly 200 people affected by domestic violence in Kewaunee County.
