Menasha police respond to video game antics

Posted

Officers responded to a report of a girl pointing a gun out of the window at a residence in the 1000 block of Claude Street in the town of Menasha at 11:41 a.m. Monday, according to a town of Menasha Police Department media release.

The caller told the 911 dispatcher that there were three people standing in the front yard and the female was pointing a handgun at them through the window.

Officers from both the town and city of Menasha police departments set up a perimeter around the home as the Winnebago County Communications Center made telephone contact. All six occupants of the home spoke with officers outside, and a subsequent search of the home led to the discovery of an Airsoft type handgun.

After speaking with those involved it appears they were playing video games and when a few of them went outside the girl jokingly pointed the Airsoft gun out the window at the others, according to the media release.

The 17-year-old town of Menasha girl was warned about her actions.
