More than 250 people, including veterans and their families, gathered Tuesday for an appreciation event at the Waupaca County Fair.
The men and women who served were treated to a special program, a meal, and a chance to connect with a variety of veterans' service organizations. Elected leaders, such as Congressman Gallagher, also attended.
For the former military members, it's also a chance to put on their caps or uniforms and reminisce about their time in the service.
"It's just a great networking opportunity for the veterans in Waupaca County to get together, to share some time, to share some stories, share that camaraderie. Is it therapeutic? I think so," said Jesse Cuff, Waupaca County Veterans Service Officer.
The veterans also enjoyed a $2.00 discount off their admission to the Waupaca County Fair which runs through Sunday.
