Fake utility workers looking to steal

Posted

Green Bay Police are warning people to ask for identification before they open the doors to their homes to workers.  They have received more than one complaint of men trying to gain entry into homes by posing as "Utility workers".  Once inside one man distracts the homeowner, while the other looks for items to steal.

City workers always have photo identification.  Police recommend that if you didn't call for the service call, that you should call the company by phone to verify that the visit is scheduled.  In many cases these scam-artists are targeting elderly homeowners.
