The Appleton Common Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss two major development projects, including a new corporate headquarters for U.S. Venture.
The two agreements require approval from the common council before the signing of the federal tax reform bill Wednesday, city officials said.
The $49.5 million U.S. Venture project would be located on or near the land where Michiels Fox Banquet Rivertyme Catering once stood, according to the development agreement.
It would include an office building with multiple floors above a multi-level underground parking area. The City of Appleton would own the parking garage.
The new headquarters will be built for 780 employees, meaning room for growth, a company representative said.
If approved, the building would take a year to design and then be completed in about three years.
“We’re thrilled that U.S. Venture has chosen to locate its headquarters here in downtown Appleton. We have been working on this development for some time and this will be a great addition to our downtown that will spur other developments in the near future,” said Mayor Tim Hanna in a statement. “This agreement is a first step that is necessary to be approved prior to a federal tax reform bill expected to be signed into law tomorrow.”
The second project is redevelopment of the historic Zuelke Building into a mixed use property that will include residential, office, retail and parking, the development agreement said.
The special meeting will be Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
