NBC26 has a copy of the air traffic control recordings from the Navy helicopter flyover at Lambeau Field during the preseason:
“Lone Wolf seven zero five, flight of two, roger, departure off the east ramp, (unintelligible) at your own risk, proceed on course, altitude at your discretion."
"Hello, 7-0-5 private flight about 1,100 feet, cleared by tower for a quick orbit around Lambeau and then we'll be on our way."
There are flight restrictions for all NFL games at Lambeau, but a statement from the FAA says military flights like this are allowed if it's approved by air traffic control.
The Navy helicopters flew over Lambeau during the mid-August game against the Steelers. The Packers say the flyover was not planned with them. But it was planned, at least in the moment, with air traffic control.
The Navy has said they're investigating. The helicopters were in the area for training, but there weren't any plans for the flights made ahead of time.
A statement from the Packers says they've asked the military to plan flyovers with them, so flyovers can be announced to fans.
