Two Shawano men were indicted Tuesday for their alleged involvement in firearms offenses in Northeast Wisconsin.
Gary Hancock, 24, and Jesus Zepeda, 29, both of Shawano, were charged with conspiring to violate federal firearms laws and three counts of making false statements in connection with purchasing firearms.
Between December 2013 and February 2014, the two men allegedly tried to buy guns for people living in California, court documents said.
They received money from those California residents and bought guns for them at licensed firearms dealers in the Green Bay area, according to the indictment. Hancock allegedly made false statements on firearms transfer forms to purchase two semiautomatic rifles and a semiautomatic handgun.
Both men face a maximum of 5 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for the conspiracy charge. They also face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for each of the false statement charges.
