Two Rivers police officer injured while assisting resident

Two Rivers Police Department officers were assisting a 23-year-old Two Rivers resident on 12:52 p.m. Wednesday when he became argumentative and combative with officers.

The man struck an officer numerous times on his head and face. The man was taken into custody on felony charges for battery to a Law Enforcement Officer and transported to Manitowoc County Jail.

A 45-year-old Manitowoc County woman intervened in the 23-year-old man's arrest and was arrested for obstructing an officer.

The officer who suffered non-life threatening injuries was treated at a local hospital and released. He is a 20-year veteran of the Two Rivers Police Department.
