Driver in fatal crash allegedly smoked marijuana

UPDATE: The 17-year-old driver in the fatal crash that killed two people had smoked marijuana and was speeding before the crash.

UPDATE: The victims of a fatal crash have been identified. 32 year old Laurie Shaha and 16 year old Simon Hill were killed.

Shaha, was riding in a SUV when it was struck by a pickup that failed to stop for a stop sign.

Hill, from the Greenleaf area, was a passenger in the pickup truck,

The crash happened just before 8:30 pm Monday night in the Town of New Denmark. The pick-up traveling south on Glenmore Road failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of County Highway X and Glenmore Road.

The 17-year-old driving the truck has been arrested for intoxicated use of a vehicle.

The Brown County sheriff's office tells NBC26 that two people have died in an alcohol related crash near the Town of New Denmark. 

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. Monday night. 

Five people were involved in the two-car crash. All five were injured and two were killed. 

Lt. John Bain tells NBC26 that a pickup truck was traveling south on Glenmore road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of County Highway X. The truck collided with an SUV traveling westbound. 

One person is in custody at the Brown County Jail facing two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. 

The crash is still under investigation.
