Two workers were treated for injuries after a fire at Rosenow School in Fond du Lac, according to Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue.

The two people, who work for a contracting company, were using torches to work on the boiler at the school.

A hose attached to the acetylene tank ruptures, starting a fire in the boiler room, said Troy Haase, Div. Chief of Fire Prevention for Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue.

The workers tried to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, but smoke and flames forced them out of the building, crews said.

The fire was contained to the boiler room and there was some damage. There was also smoke damage outside the room, Haase said.

The workers were assessed and released. No firefighters were injured.

The initial damage estimate is around $5,000, Haase said, although that number could change.
