At 11:40 a.m. Friday, a two vehicle crash was reported on Highway 64, about 0.7 miles west of Highway 32 in the town of Mountain, according to the Oconto County Sheriff's Office.

Law enforcement and rescue personnel arrived on scene and found a semitractor trailer had been westbound on Highway 64, a minivan had been traveling eastbound on Highway 64. The minivan apparently traveled left of center causing a head-on collision of the two vehicles.

Road conditions were a factor. Despite rescue efforts the two occupants of the minivan were pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi driver was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Oconto County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Mountain Fire, Mountain Rescue, Doty Fire and Townsend Fire performed rescue operations and traffic management.
