Trump running mate Mike Pence to campaign in Wisconsin

Posted
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Donald Trump's running mate Mike Pence is expected to make his first solo campaign stop as the Republican vice presidential nominee in southeast Wisconsin on Wednesday night.

A Republican with knowledge of the campaign's plans told The Associated Press on Monday that the Indiana governor plans a campaign stop in the Waukesha area, a Republican stronghold in the state.

The stop was to be officially announced Monday night, with more details about the event expected Tuesday.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is a close political ally and friend of Pence.

Trump lost Wisconsin's primary in April by 13 points. Trump must do well among Republicans in southeast Wisconsin, where the anti-Trump movement was strong, in order to carry the state in November.
