Nearly 18,000 trees will be sent to military bases and families around the world.
A local volunteer group from the Trees for Troops organization loaded 200 trees to contribute to that effort Tuesday.
Volunteers say they're proud to serve those who serve us. For Paul Schroeder, a coordinator from the group, it's a gesture of "thanks" for the men and women in uniform.
He says, "(W)e just think it's a great program and we're so thankful for the veterans and the men and women overseas and at home that are protecting us and giving us our freedoms."
200 of Wisconsin's 600 trees come from Northeast Wisconsin.
