Neighbors in Kaukauna met Wednesday to prepare for the unthinkable: an active shooter.
The seminar and training program, hosted by the Kaukauna Police Department, gave participants tools to identify would-be shooters and create response plans.
The Kaukauna Police Department said everyone can benefit from the program.
"With everything going on in the world you could be confronted with an active shooter in the park, at a mall, out on the street," said Kaukauna Police Department Asst. Chief Jamie Graff. "The more people we can get prepared to meet that confrontation, the better off they are."
Officers said having a response plan can make the difference between life and death.
