Titletown District receives final approval

Since 2009, the Packers organization and village leaders in Ashwaubenon have talked about the possibility of the Titletown District. Now seven years later, that possibility is becoming a reality.

"A lot of work has gone on," said Packers Director of Public Affairs Aaron Popkey. "We're very appreciative of the village, the staff, and everyone else involved, and excited to get Titletown off to the next steps."

The Ashwaubenon Village Board gave final approval to phase one of the plans on Tuesday night.

"I think this is a great thing for the Village of Ashwaubenon," said Village President Mike Aubinger. "Everyone here is going to benefit."

The Lodge Kohler hotel, Hinterland Brewery and Restaurant, and a Bellin Health facility are all part of this first phase.

"It's going to be a place that people come to visit," said Popkey. "It will be a tourist attraction, but a gateway to the larger community as well."

The whole process went pretty smoothly, which both sides agree was because of their great working relationship.

"It was necessary beyond belief," Aubinger explained. "There were a lot of moving parts in this."

Construction will start later this month, but an official groundbreaking won't take place until the spring, Popkey said.
