FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- Three newborn puppies discarded in a trash can in South Milwaukee are recovering at the Fond du Lac Humane Society.
Shelter manager Renee Webb has been hand-feeding the puppies every couple hours. The newborns were found with umbilical cords still attached, dirty and soaked in urine in the trash earlier this week.
The puppies and other animals have been saved due in part to the Badger Rescue Animal Transportation Service. Volunteers transport animals to available shelter space as needed in Wisconsin.
Webb says the puppies, one golden female and two brown males, appear to be an American pit bull mix. The dogs will be up for adoption in about two months.
