Three people are in the hospital with serious injuries after an early morning crash.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. on Friday in the 1500 block of Western Avenue.

A driver hit a telephone pole and two trees before coming to rest in the front yard of a home.

Police believe speed may have played a role in the crash because a large piece of the telephone pole was found about 75 feet down the road.

A neighbor said the crash woke him up.

“By the time I got downstairs, the driver’s side was already on fire,” said Christopher Geronimi.

The road was closed for about an hour while crews worked the scene.

At this time police could not confirm whether or not alcohol was a factor in the crash.
