The Appleton Police Department arrested three men early Friday for their involvement in an attempted armed robbery.
A 911 call alerted officers to a disturbance involving a handgun at a residence in the 500 block of N. State Street, police said.
Officers were told to look for three individuals who had fled the area.
During the investigation, police learned a 31-year-old male previously had vehicle work completed by one of the suspects.
Despite providing payment for the service, the victim had been contacted repeatedly for more money, police said. When the victim refused to provide additional compensation, the individual who had completed the repairs came to the victim’s house with two friends, according to police.
An argument about payment occurred outside the residence. During the argument, one of the individuals pulled a 9mm handgun from a holster and held it at his side, while continuing to demand money from the victim, police said.
They fled upon being told the police had been called.
An officer found two subjects, one armed with a handgun, near the intersection of N. Richmond Street and W. Packard Street. Both were taken into custody without incident, police said.
The third subject was later located by the Menasha Police Department and was taken into custody for the Appleton Police Department.
The three individuals taken into custody are being held in the Outagamie County Jail. NBC26 is choosing not to name them until they've been charged.
