A Fond du Lac social worker formerly employed by Berry House was charged with sexually assaulting a resident at the group home.

Jennifer Wenger, 30, of Fond du Lac, is charged with second-degree sexual assault by employee of entity and sexual exploitation by a therapist, both felonies.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police she and Wenger had a sexual relationship from May until October of 2015 while she was staying at Berry House.

Berry House is an assisted living facility for those with mental illness.

The victim said she and Wenger had sex in Wenger's office and in the victim's room at Berry House, according to the criminal complaint. She also told police that Wenger would manipulate her schedule so that she could be with and around the victim.

The complaint said Wenger ended the relationship because Wenger's husband found out.

In the complaint, the victim told police that "she was at the treatment center at the Berry House to get help and she feels as though she did not get any of the help that she needed. [The victim] said that she feels as though she is worse because of what happened to her."

Wenger was the lead social worker and program director at the Berry House from 2012 to 2015.

She'll be back in court next month.
