ThedaCare Hospitals are temporarily restricting children to visit patients in all local hospitals.
In a press release to NBC26 on Wednesday, ThedaCare said they encourage all visitors to wear masks and wash hands when entering the hospitals to prevent the spread of the influenza virus.
ThedaCare announced children under the age of 12 will not be allowed to visit patients in all seven ThedaCare hospitals.
The temporary restriction will take place at hospitals in Appleton, Neenah, Shawano, New London, Waupaca, Berlin and Wild Rose.
The situation will be assessed on a regular basis as new information about the influenza season becomes available.
As of Friday, ThedaCare said infection rates for the 2017-2018 flu season are still rising, higher than those in 2009, when swine flu was a pandemic.
