The public in Ephraim could vote in April on whether to sell alcohol in restaurants. The community is considered dry but. a movement is on to change the law that's been on the books since the village was founded in 1853.

Fred Bridenhagen, born and raised in Ephraim, ready for a change in the community to make the village able to sell alcohol.

" Everybody in their heart of hearts knows that it's got to go forward. it's only going to have a better impact for the village" says Fred Bridenhagen, Petitioner.

The two petitions collected about 100 signatures, a class "B" for selling and consumption of beer and a class "C" for serving wine at restaurants.

Village leaders aren't too suprised by the petitions either.

" The writing has been on the wall we've known that there is enough people talking about it that it was just a matter of time before they brought it to a vote again" says Brent Bristol, Village Administrator.

And leaders see it as a benefit to the local economy.

"The real benefit is the restaurants will thrive and do better" says Mike Mccutcheon, President Of Village Board.

"I think that the village will be going forward" says Bridenhagen.

Although their may be some that disagree with the petitions, others think it can only help move the city in the right direction.

The village will vote on the referendum on April 5th.
