Algoma man pleads not guilty in SWAT incident

Morgen Decker Maloney of Algoma has entered a plea of not guilty due to mental health following a SWAT incident in Bellevue last month. Maloney is accused of First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and False Imprisonment, both felonies.

Updated August 4, 2016: Morgen Decker-Maloney, 29 of Algoma, has been charged with two felony counts each for first degree recklessly endangering safety and false imprisonment, and misdemeanor battery and disorderly. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Aug. 10 in Brown County.

UPDATE: The Brown County Sheriff's Office says the SWAT incident originated from a false imprisonment incident that happened in the village of Bellevue. 

The victim of the incident told police that a man entered the home and showed a handgun. The victim was held in the home by the male suspect. The suspect eventually left the home and the victim was unharmed.

Brown County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a home in Bellevue after they received a call about a man with a gun.

A 29-year-old man was later arrested by the Kewaunee County Sheriff's Office in Algoma during the morning hours of August 2, 2016.

The Kewaunee County Sheriff says there was a SWAT incident Tuesday morning in Algoma.

Several law enforcement departments responded to a call of a possibly armed person in the City of Algoma from an incident that started in Brown County.

After setting up a perimeter around the house an alert was sent out to residents in the area with the CODE Red messaging system, for people to shelter in place. Residents in the immediate vicinity of the incident were asked to leave for their safety.

The SWAT team used an armored vehicle to approach the house and talk with the suspect. After negotiations the incident was peacefully resolved and the subject left the house cooperatively.
