The Manitowoc Police Department is crediting citizens who helped in the capture of a driver who crashed into a home today.
Just after 1 AM, police were called to the 1400 block of S. 19th Street where a 2001 Dodge Durango had crashed into a home.
Witnesses who called police say that the driver, a male, was seen leaving the vehicle and running away.
Some of those witnesses were able to provide a detailed description of the suspect and a good general location of his whereabouts. He was located and arrested in a backyard in the 1300 block of S. 20th Street.
The suspect now faces multiple charges including hit and run causing injury, operating with a suspended license -6th offense, reckless driving and operating a vehicle without insurance.
He was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and then taken to the Manitowoc County Jail.
The vehicle's owner also faces a charge of permitting unauthorized person to drive as they were aware the suspect did not have a valid drivers' license.
The home, located near Columbus and S 19th Street was not seriously damaged.
