Manitowoc Police said a suspect was taken into custody Monday in the homicide of Kor Yang.
Kor Yang was shot in the chest on February 5th after answering a knock at his front door. Police have been searching for a suspect since.
"This was a very tragic even that happened here," said Cpt. Larry Zimney with Manitowoc Police.
St. Paul, Minnesota police arrested 22-year-old Quinn Orn Smith on Monday on the charges relating to Yang's murder. He is charged with one count of First Degree Intentional Homicide- as a party to a crime and Use of a Dangerous Weapon.
According to the criminal complaint, a gun was found a block and a half away from the victim's home during the investigation. The state crime lab found Smith's DNA on that gun. They also found the DNA of another man, Joe Vang, 25, who is still at large. Smith and Vang are members of the Asian Crips gang in St. Paul, according to police.
"The crime lab confirmed that ballistics evidence showed that the handgun recovered near the scene was the murder weapon," said Zimney.
Police do not know how or if the suspects knew Yang, and also have yet to determine a motive. There are two detectives in St. Paul currently questioning Smith. He still needs to make his first court appearance in Minnesota.
"He has to either agree to come back to the state of Wisconsin...or if he would like to have a hearing on it, which is his right to have a hearing, we would have to apply for what's called a Governor's warrant," said Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre.
Police do not know exactly where Vang is, but believe he is in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.
