It was a rare opportunity for a Fox Valley man Thursday, as specialty surgeons were able to reattach his arm after it was cut off in a workplace accident.
Specialty surgeons at Thedacare Regional Medical Center say Tim Schroeder is the area's first arm reattachment patient in recent years.
Schroeder lost his arm in a serious accident, while working on the U.S. 441 bridge project.
He said doctors were able to save his arm, because of the quick action from his co-workers.
"We were working on the beam when it slipped out and cut my arm off and I have to thank the crew that I had, because they really were taught by the safety engineers how to help in injuries" said Schroeder. "We always thought it was a big joke, but now they believe in it."
