The Fox Valley Metro Police Department was notified of two Instagram posts depicting a Kimberly High School student holding an assault style weapon at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The weapon in the picture was later determined to be an air soft gun, a second post depicted Columbine High School.
Within three hours of the of the notification officers located, interviewed, and searched the homes and vehicles of the two students involved.
No credible threat was found to the high school or the community. Despite this, Michael Lambie of the Fox Valley Metro Police Department reassures the public that police take any threat seriously.
"School district staff, police departments are going to take that sort of post very seriously...Fortunately in today's day and age threats like that are met with very very serious consequences" Lambie said.
Whether or not the two students will face criminal charges has yet to be determined.
