Stores seeing green after Black Friday

The first big shopping weekend of the holiday season is in the books, and it was big one for Target in Ashwaubenon.

"Had a great rush in the beginning, had a lot of guests in our store, really successful open in our area,” said Executive Team Leader, Aaron Denneau.

The store was packed late Thursday night into Friday morning. Managers said it was one of the busiest shopping days they can remember, but dealing with the crowds wasn't all bad.

"It really feels good when you see everyone in here and able to find what they're looking for and everything is paying off for them the whole time,” Denneau said.

The National Retail Federation estimates $682 billion were spent in stores across the country for the shopping holiday, record sales happened online. Televisions were the biggest seller at target, but so were smaller items.

"We had some throws in the ad that were gone almost immediately, and this year, we have 12 days of socks that has come up a lot and guests have really been excited about that, we've had lines out the door,” Denneau said.

Workers are pulling up their socks for a different occasion, and that’s keeping the store staffed and ready all through the holiday season.

"It's been great thus far, so we're really looking forward to seeing how the rest of the holiday sales go, but it really has been a smooth holiday season for us here at Target,” Denneau said.
