Staying safe on a foggy morning

Posted

Ashwaubenon, WI -- Heavy fog could throw a hitch in your early Thursday morning commute. Limited visibility could slow things way down and be dangerous for drivers.

Around 5 a.m., visibility was pretty poor in Ashwaubenon and throughout the Green Bay area. According to the National Weather Service, visibility was down to about a quarter mile or less in some places.

Dash cam footage shot around 3:30 a.m. Thursday showed the 172 bridge with very poor visibility.

Here's a few tips to keep drivers safe.

  1. Keep a safe distance from other vehicles
  2. Make sure your lights are turned on
  3. Use low beam headlights, high beams will make visibility worse.
  4. Stay alert
  5. Slow down

Fog was expected to be an issue on roadways for much of the morning.
