Six-year-old girl struck by vehicle, killed while waiting for bus, family member also injured

PLAINFIELD, Wis. — A kindergarten student was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning while waiting for a school bus near Plainfield.

Several students were waiting to board the bus around 7:15 a.m. on Highway 73 southeast of Plainfield when the crash happened, according to a news release from Anthony Marinack, district administrator for Tri-County Area Schools.

The vehicle involved in the crash was traveling in the same direction of the stopped bus. The bus also had its lights activated at the time of the crash, Marinack said.

A six-year-old girl died after being hit by the vehicle, the release said. A member of her family was injured and taken to the hospital.

Marinack did not have more information on the injured student’s condition.
