PICKEREL, Wis. — Six bodies have been recovered from the remains of a burned house in Pickerel, according to the Langlade County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office says the fire was reported Tuesday morning at around 6:23 a.m. on CTH DD in the Township of Ainsworth, better known as Pickerel. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene.

According to NBC26's affiliate, WJFW, Langlade County Coroner Larry Shadick confirmed two adults, one male and one female, and four children died. The youngest child that died was ten months old.

Eight people were in the home at the time of the fire. Two escaped and were taken to the hospital.

Shadick said in his over 40 years in law enforcement, this is the worst scene he has responded to in terms of number of deaths, WJFW reports.

Shadick says the cause is still under investigation, but he believes it might be electrical.

The State Fire Marshal is on the scene.
