Maxwell Anderson trial: Court evidence

Court resumed on Monday with the first witness, Maxwell Anderson’s downstairs tenant, Pete Worbington, taking the stand. Worbington testified that he has known Anderson since he was a child and that he has lived there for two years.

In court, he described Anderson as a difficult landlord, testifying that Anderson worked on various home improvement projects and that his home was littered with construction tools, including ongoing projects, and several holes dug in the back and side yards.

Worbington also testified that Anderson frequently had people over into the early morning hours and said he was a light sleeper who would always be awakened by Anderson in the middle of the night. However, he could not remember if he was woken up the night Sade was allegedly killed.

Autopsy insights revealed

Lauren Decker, an assistant medical examiner from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office, who performed Sade's autopsy, also testified. This was the first time more clarification was provided regarding Sade's death.

Decker testified that she believes Sade was dismembered with some kind of knife after she was already dead.

Decker told the court she was unable to determine the cause of death due to the condition of the remains.

"The way that the body was received in pieces and partially decomposed in the water. All of that makes it difficult to determine cause of death," Decker said.

Additionally, Decker stated that Sade had been stabbed multiple times, but it remains unclear whether this occurred while she was alive. She also testified that no substances or alcohol contributed to her death.

Surveillance from local bars entered into evidence

The afternoon session included testimony from several detectives who presented surveillance video of Robinson and Anderson's date on April 1. The footage came from two establishments: Twisted Fishermen and Dukes on Water.

The trial continued after Friday’s testimony focused on the discovery of Robinson’s dismembered body parts throughout the Milwaukee area. Surveillance video shown in court captured Robinson’s car driving around in the early morning hours of April 2, near locations where her remains were later found.

Multiple witnesses testified that it was impossible to identify who was driving the vehicle in the footage.

Additional video evidence included footage from a Milwaukee County Transit System bus passing the location where Robinson’s car was on fire. The video shows a subject walking away from the burning vehicle.

Detectives testified that this same person was later seen waiting at a bus stop at 35th and Lisbon. MCTS bus surveillance video then shows the subject, described as a white male in dark clothing with a tan backpack, boarding and riding the bus for an extended period.
