MADISON — Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has authorized the Wisconsin National Guard to help with the response to Hurricane Dorian.

Hurricane Dorian is expected to slam into Florida on Monday as a Category 4 storm.

In an announcement issued Friday, Gov. Tony Evers said he signed Executive Order #42, which authorizes Maj. Gen. Don Dunbar, Wisconsin’s adjutant general, to call elements of the Wisconsin National Guard to state active duty to assist civil authorities in Florida.

Gov. Evers' executive order declares a State of Emergency under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) in response to a request from the state of Florida.
