JANESVILLE (WISC) -- A Janesville man has been accused of choking his sister Christmas Eve after she teased him for being a Minnesota Vikings fan.

According to the criminal complaint, Mark E. Mueller, 56, of Janesville, is facing charges for strangulation and suffocation, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. All three counts have a domestic abuse modifier.

The complaint said his sister, who was living with Mueller, had been teasing him about being a Minnesota Vikings fan, which made him upset.

Officials said he went over to her while she was sitting and started to choke her.

Police said he then punched his sister in the jaw after she slapped him in the face.

Mueller’s sister said he has threatened her in the past and that this was not the first time Mueller had attacked her.
