A total of 14 people in Wisconsin are under investigation for the 2019 novel coronavirus, the state Department of Health Services said Friday.
Five of those patients are currently awaiting test results. Eight test results have already come back negative. One positive case was confirmed in Dane County earlier this week.
That patient in Dane County will remain in self-isolation until it's determined they're no longer infectious. It's unclear how long that will take.
Jeanne Ayers, State Health Officer and Administrator of the Division of Public Health reinforced the fact that the risk of contracting coronavirus in Wisconsin remains low.
"But because this is the season for respiratory illnesses, we could encourage everyone to continue their healthy habits," Ayers said, such as washing your hands often, covering your cough, and staying home when you're sick.
Ethnic background has no influence on the risk of the virus, Ayers said. Only travel history and direct exposure to people who have tested positive for the virus are factors.
