State Senator Dave Hansen of Green Bay apologized tonight after a social media post landed him in hot water. The Green Bay Democrat says he intended to re-tweet a message that asked a rhetorical question about Governor Walker and the state's John Doe investigation process. However a post from a twitter follower named Daniel Miller appeared as well that called the Governor an obscene name which was insulting to those with a mental disability. Demands for an apology were posted on twitter and that's what the Senator did.
In a statement to NBC26, Hansen called it an accident, saying "I apologize to Governor Walker and anyone offended by the remark. Although I disagree on many issues, I abhor the kind of language used in the original tweet.
Governor Walker was asked about it while he was in Green Bay and said, "Someone mentioned something about it, but I rarely pay attention to anything he has to say, so it's hard to comment on it." Walker went on to say in politics you should try not to personalize differences because your opponent today may be an ally tomorrow.
