Standard Pre-owned Car Dealer Facing Lawsuit

The civil case goes back to this past spring when an investigation began into Standard Pre-owned, a used card dealership with locations in Kaukauna and Suamico.

Those who are filing the lawsuit claim John Solberg, who worked at Standard Pre-owned offered to help them sell their cars, but after they were sold they never saw any money.

Monday in court Solberg presented several documents he says prove why he's not responsible for the lost money.

Solberg says he's not the owner of Standard Pre-owned which closed following the investigation.  He claims 3 men, who are named in the civil suit, owned the company.  Solberg says his role was strictly to work with the customers, but for those who are waiting on money they claim they're owed, they believe Solberg is responsible.

"From what I'm noticing way back in November of 2015 it should have been just shut down and closed, it just got way out of hand and they just didn't do their job," said a woman who claims to have been victimized by Standard Pre-owned.

But Solberg says he's hopeful the others will come forward.

"As far as what happened today it's exactly what we wanted we got a trial that's going to continue to put pressure on these guys," said Solberg.

According to court documents Solberg has at least 3 open cases against him across Wisconsin involving investments and small claims issues.  It's unclear if those are related to this incident.

The plaintiffs in this case plan to take their argument to jury trial.

The next court date is scheduled for December 15.
