As spring approaches, the United States Coast Guard will be conducting ice breaking operations on waters in the Green Bay area Tuesday.

Coast Guard Cutters Mackinaw and Mobile Bay will be breaking out areas like Green Bay, the Fox River entrance canal, the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal, the Menominee River entrance, and the waters of Little Bay De Noc near Escanaba.

After those breakouts are complete, U.S. Oil will resume the shipment of fuel products to the Port of Green Bay by the end of next week.

The Coast Guard also says these ice breaking efforts will increase in the coming weeks, as the ice starts melting and more boats are out on the water.

They say all snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) operators, ice fishermen, and other recreational users of the ice should take extra precautions as temperatures get warmer. The coast Guard suggests to plan your activities carefully and use extreme caution on and near the ice, especially in proximity to charted navigation areas.
