The Fond du Lac Police Department gave one of its one a special send-off Wednesday evening.
Officer James Darnell has been called to active duty in Afghanistan with the Wisconsin National Guard.
Officer Darnell will be part of Blackhawk Helicopter crew that goes in to rescue wounded soldiers.
"It's a little bit the unknown factor, what exactly am I going to find over there? What exactly am I going to have to do? Because for MEDVAC, we're not busy unless our soldiers are in trouble," said Sgt. Darnell.
Officer Darnell leaves for Afghanistan later this month.
His wife and five kids will be waiting for his return.
