DE PERE – A day of preparation and planning has paid off. The Ground Hog Day Snow Storm is here and plowing crews are out keeping the roads safe.
Public Works Director, Scott Thoresen says it’s all about preparation. “We anticipated the storm so we knew it was coming.” That way De Pere was prepared and able to have plows filled with salt and ready.
Once the storm hit today crews were able to be out clearing the roads, despite the number of cars still on the street.
"Late afternoon is the worst time for plows because of the evening commute." Chad Thomson who works at De Pere Public Works.
In many counties the full force of snow plows will be out overnight. Many areas have issued a snow emergency. This could mean cars parked on the street overnight could get citations. Be sure to check with your municipality to make sure that doesn't happen.
