Snow causing problems for drivers

Snow causing problems for drivers

The snow and ice on the roads made it difficult for some drivers on Thursday morning.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported around five accidents overnight and during commute hours for portions of northeast Wisconsin.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office say one person has died from an auto accident that they think is weather related.

The DOT is offering some tips on how to stay safe as drivers start to head into the thick of winter:

  • Drive slower when there is snow or ice on the roadway.
  • Keep extra distance between your car and the one in front of you.
  • If the roads are in very bad condition, avoid them unless necessary.
  • Bring extra blankets and warm clothes in case your car gets stuck in snow and help is far away.
