Smart Girls Rock

Posted

Girls from across Northeast Wisconsin had the opportunity to learn from women in STEM-related fields today.

About 90 freshmen and sophomore girls attended the Smart Girls Rock session at Miller Electric in Appleton.

Experienced professionals served as mentors to help young girls set career goals and figure out what steps they need to take to achieve them.

Organizers of the event say it's a great way to get girls thinking about STEM-related professions.

"What we want to do is to figure out ways that not only spark the interest, but continue the interest all the way through high school," said Becky Tuchscherer, President of the Miller Electric Group. "Events like this, connections to women in industry fields, is something we think will help with them embracing their dreams,"
