Shoplifting incident leads police to meth lab

Posted

Kaukauna Police say a shoplifting incident lead police to a meth lab near the Konkapot Trail area.

Police say Thursday around 11:30 a.m., they responded to a shoplifting call at the Piggly Wiggly. When officers arrived they found store employees and a citizen physically detaining a man who attempted to leave the scene. Officers were told that a second man fled the scene and ran to the Konkapot Trail area, which is a wooded walking trail near the store.

While searching the area, officers located a man hiding near the Konkapot trail along with evidence of hazardous meth making material.

Police say because these materials are dangerous, the State of Wisconsin Department Criminal Investigations clandestine lab team was called to properly process the scene and a private company was called to clean up the meth lab waste.

A 28-year-old Oshkosh man was arrested.

The case is still under investigation.
