Shopko and NBC26 Hurricane Harvey Relief Drive begins Thursday

Posted

NBC26 and Shopko are teaming up to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts after the devastation it caused in Texas.

We're filling up a truck with essentials and sending it to those in need. The quicker it gets filled, the faster it can head down to help!

We are filling the truck with everything from water to dog food to clothes. Anything can help as people begin to recover from Hurricane Harvey.

You can visit the truck outside Shopko at the Bay Park Square Mall at the following times:

  • Thursday, August 31: 3-8 p.m.
  • Friday, September 1: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 2: 8 a.m.-Noon
  • Sunday, September 2: 8 a.m.-Noon

Collection bins are available at Shopko during store hours.

NBC26 will also have a collection bin in our front doorway located at 1391 North Road in Ashwaubenon. That will be available for donations 24 hours a day.

One Shopko employee's son lives 15 miles from Houston. She said within two hours, the flood waters were up to his waist.

The support Shopko has shown her family has been overwhelming, she said.

"As a mother, your instinct is to save and help your children, and you can't get to them," said Sherri Day, that Shopko employee. "It just makes me feel so comforted to know that they care enough to be able to take care of other people's children and other people's family members."
