A 19-year-old woman is accused of speeding away in a stolen car before crashing into a ditch.

It happened late Tuesday afternoon in the Township of Two Rivers. The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office says a man was returning home when he saw someone trying to drive off with his 1999 Saturn SL1.

The man tried to stop the suspect from leaving by using the current car he was driving to block the suspect. But, the Sheriff's Office says the suspect managed to drive off, striking the owner's garage before getting away.

The man tried chasing after the suspect, but he eventually lost her. Within a short time, a Manitowoc County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the car and chased after it. At one point during the chase, the Sheriff's Office says the suspect sideswiped an SUV while making a turn and kept driving. The driver of the SUV, a 76-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect eventually lost control of the car and drove into a ditch. The Sheriff's Office says she then left the car and tried to run away, but deputies caught up and arrested her.

The suspect has been identified as a 19-year-old woman from Two Rivers. NBC26 does not release names of criminal suspects until they have been formally charged.
