Robert Dettmering has entered a plea of not guilty due to mental defect in connection with a murder for hire plot. Dettmering is accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his son and his wife. A mental exam is required and must be complete by November 18. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 20.

Formal charges have been filed against a Marinette County man who police say tried plot the deaths of his son and his son's wife.
An undercover officer with the state Department of Justice posed as a hit man and met with 76 year old Robert Dettmering of Crivitz. Marinette County prosecutors say Dettmering paid a $1,000 down payment for the murders.
Earlier this week, officials were on the scene at Kranky Bob's Bar and Grill on Loomis Road, in Porterfield, the location where agents raided the business. Dettmering was arrested shortly after.
