Officials at a nonprofit homeless shelter say they're addressing safety concerns at the Wisconsin facility after a veteran jumped out of a third-floor window recently.
Wisconsin Public Radio reports the resident, who was found alive and taken to a hospital, is the second incident this year involving the Veterans Assistance Foundation.
The Tomah Veterans Affairs Medical Center announced it would end the shelter's lease agreement after a veteran's death at the facility in September.
The shelter's lease ends in January, but it can be extended through April if VAF adds additional safety measures.
The nonprofit, which houses about 30 veterans, says it's working to tackle the problems but has not yet agreed to the new conditions.
VAF Executive Director Don Roach says the shelter is working with the VA to continue caring for the veterans living at the facility.
