A Sheboygan man jumped out of an eighth-story window along North Water Street Tuesday after the man ran away from an incident two floors below, according to Sheboygan Police.
The 50-year-old man had attacked a former girlfriend on the sixth floor, police said. A separate man stepped in to stop the 50-year-old from strangling and hitting the woman, police said. The 50-year-old tried to jump of a window, but the intervening man pulled him back in, then the 50-year-old ran to the eighth floor and jumped out of a window, police said.
The 50-year-old man hit a tree on the way down and suffered serious injuries, but was listed in stable condition, police said.
Investigators believe the man was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said.
Before the incident along the 600 block of N. Water St., the 50-year-old man was involved in two hit-and-run crashes in which no one was hurt, police said.
