Two Sheboygan police officers were justified in the shooting death of robbery suspect Kevin Higgins, according to the Sheboygan County's District attorney. "There's simply no doubt in my mind that officers (Brandon) Kehoe and (Anthony) Hamilton ended a deadly threat not only to themselves but to all of the responding officers, "Joe DeCecco explained in a news conference.
In the report released today, Higgins was heavily armed with an semi automatic rifle with a scope and silencer attached. The suspect also had nearly one hundred rounds of ammunition. Police also recovered a pistol and a stun gun disguised as a cell phone.
Higgins was killed in a shootout with police outside Union Avenue Tap, 1401 Union Ave.
Officer Kehoe is a 10 year veteran of the Sheboygan Police Department. Officer Hamilton is a seven year veteran, also from the Sheboygan Police Department. Both officers remain on leave after the incident.
