Shawano, WIS--Non toxic, visible mold was found in at least six classrooms in the elective building at Shawano Community High School."
The school currently has a cleaning service removing the mold but they were not finished in time for the first day of classes today.
No one has become sick from the mold. Now the cleaning service is putting in new filters to move the air in effected rooms.
"What my understanding is that it's elevated but not at a point where you could probably could have people in there is my understanding, but again if anyone has any sensitivity to mold we just don't want to take that chance at that point so we'll wait for the all clear" says Gary Cumberland, Superintendent.
This Friday the school will have another air quality test for the cleaned rooms.
The school is hoping to have the students back in their classrooms in a week.Classes are still being held and for kids who are enrolled in the elective classes in the elective building, they'll be in various locations throughout the school like the library or in the auditorium.
